The right track can bring a scene, story, or campaign to life. District 9 Records helps prepare and put forward suitable music from our artists for sync opportunities in TV shows, films, video games, and advertising. If your track is selected, the use is agreed with you and may include a sync fee and royalties. Placements depend on each project’s needs, so they can’t be guaranteed.
Music can bring a scene, show, game, or campaign to life and a placement can introduce your work to people who may never have found it through streaming alone. When you release with District 9 Records, we can consider suitable tracks for sync opportunities as part of your artist agreement. Opportunities depend on the needs of each project; we’ll let you know when your track is a fit and discuss the details with you in advance.
A license sets out how a project can use your recording and for how long, where, and in what context. We’ll help you understand the proposed use and review the terms with you before anything is approved. Sync licensing support is included in your District 9 Records agreement, subject to track suitability and your approval of each opportunity.
Sync projects may require permission for both the recording and the underlying composition. We’ll help identify the relevant writers and rights holders and coordinate the permissions needed for a potential placement. This support relates to clearing a sync use; it does not mean District 9 Records administers your publishing rights.
A placement may include an upfront sync fee, and some uses can also generate performance royalties. The amount and terms vary by project. We’ll explain the proposed compensation before you decide whether to approve the use, in line with your artist agreement.
A track is easier to consider when its credits, ownership details, and audio files are ready. We’ll help prepare suitable releases for submission and identify any additional versions a project requests, such as an instrumental or clean edit. Track preparation for sync consideration is included for releases with District 9 Records when the track is suitable; we’ll confirm what’s needed with you in advance.

Your recording is one part of your rights. Your songwriting can earn too. District 9 Records artists can receive publishing support alongside their release, helping eligible songs get registered and royalties tracked. These services are included as set out in your artist agreement, and we’ll confirm what applies to your songs with you in advance.
Composition
Registration
Your song’s composition the music and lyrics is a separate copyright from its sound recording. We help register the songwriter and ownership details for eligible releases, so the work and its creators are properly identified.
Publishing Royalty
Collection
A song may earn royalties when it is performed publicly, broadcast, or reproduced. Publishing administration helps register compositions with the relevant collection organizations and collect eligible songwriter royalties. Support is included for District 9 Records artists as set out in their agreement.
Writer & Split
Details
Co-writers, producers, and collaborators may each have a share of a composition. We help document writer credits and agreed splits so royalty registrations reflect who contributed and how the work is owned.
Sync Licensing
A film, TV show, game, or advertisement may want to use both the recording and the underlying composition. We can put suitable music forward and help coordinate the required permissions. If an opportunity arises, we’ll share the proposed use and terms before you decide.
Royalty Tracking
Publishing royalties can come from different uses and organizations, making them difficult to follow. We help artists understand the publishing income reported for eligible works and how it relates to their agreement.
